Fall is right around the corner and we are all adjusting our routines to school, work, and other priorities. The days will get shorter and it will seem like there’s not enough time in the day to squeeze in a workout. But don’t let the shift in your schedules or the fleeting daylight get you off track with your fitness routine. To stay fit this fall we encourage you to follow a few easy steps. Keep reading for additional information.

Plan ahead and set goals

A schedule will help you organize everything you have going on and hold you accountable for getting in that workout even on your busiest days. Make sure the gym bag is packed and the alarm is set before you go to sleep. Know where you’re headed and what you will be doing. It’s always fun to switch it up so don’t be afraid to try something new. Goals also hold you accountable. Set a smaller goal – daily goal, a weekly goal, a monthly goal – they will all add up and help you achieve your overall health or fitness goal. Then grab a journal a track your progress. You will see results in no time.

Fit it in (no pun intended)

Fall means sports and it also means the season premiere of your favorite TV show. If you are spending the evening at your kid’s sport practice take that time to get in a few laps around the track or if you’re watching an hour of TV take that time to complete a strength circuit with your at home free weights or stability ball.

Enjoy the cooler weather

The cooler temperatures are a nice break from the heat of this past summer. This weather is perfect for a run or long walk. But be sure to dress accordingly! Layers are always a good idea because you can shred them as your body temperature increases. A hat is also a good idea to keep yourself warm.

Fall foods

The change in season will also bring a variety of new produce that’s in season (hello Honeycrisp apples!) Enjoy the fresh food of the fall and be sure to feed your body the correct amount of protein and vitamins after a workout.
